There are a lot of questions floating around the web:
“Why is my penis curved?”
“Does masturbation cause a curved penis?”
“Is my penis bent because I wear tight clothes?”
They say there is no such thing as a stupid question. That is correct. But there certainly are many stupid answers.
It is time those questions are finally answered in science-backed manner to satisfy your curiosity on why is your penis curved.
So without further ado – here are seven possible causes of curved penis.
- 1. Why is My Penis Curved? Is it normal?
- 2. Can Your Genetics Cause a Curved Penis?

- Why is My Penis Curved and What Can I do About It?
1. Why is My Penis Curved? Is it normal?
It depends. I know, I know… Its not really the answer you were looking for and it’s not really a »cause« either. And I’m also willing to bet that you have read this one a lot on the internet. For almost any issue or deviance on you body that you have there will be someone telling you »relax, it normal!«.
And they might be right, in many cases it can be normal – but it really depends on the case. So let’s get to it.
How severe your curve actually is?
A very slight curve is actually pretty natural. Penises are not supposed to be completely straight like an arrow. So if it bends just a little bit it is most likely completely normal and you’ve got nothing to worry about. As long as the curve is not to pronounced you are good to go. You can stop reading here. Have a nice day.
But I guess if that was the case you would not be searching the web for “why is my penis curved”, am I right?
If you penis really curves – I mean so much that you can actually call it a curved or bent penis not just »a regular penis« then check the following answers. I think you might recognise your case in one or even more of them.
2. Can Your Genetics Cause a Curved Penis?
All right, this one is actually very similar to reason number one, with one major difference – your penis is actually curved and you can do something about it to straighten it.
If your penis is curved for as long as you can remember it is most probably a genetic trait.
But what do you mean by »genetic«?
I mean that not every body part (left versus left side of body) is made completely symmetrical by your genetic design. Like left arm is not always proportional in size to the right arm and one testicle is bigger than the other and so on.
So if one part that makes your penis is shorter/longer than the other is will curve. Here is the picture.
Imagine your left corpora cavernosa (the spongy tissue that fills with blood when you get an erection) slightly smaller than the right one – your penis curves to the left. Right one smaller? Penis curves to the right! Simple as that.
But what if if bends up or down? Well same thing – if its down it might be shorter urethra tissue and if its up it’s the genetic design of the
Again, there is nothing wrong with that and it is only a cosmetic problem. As long as it doesn’t affect sex that is.
If that bothers you, and I assume it does (it bothered me!), It can be corrected pretty easily, don’t worry about it. Check out this guide I have written on how to straighten a curved penis and you will learn everything you need.
I even talk about what my girlfriend said to me about my curved penis – not nice! It is when I started to wonder why is my penis curved and what can I do about it. And I finally managed to straighten it.
3. Can Tight Clothes Cause a Curved Penis?
Now we are getting somewhere. So can tight clothes actually make you penis curved over time?
Yes. And no.
Confusing right? Let me explain…
If you are fully grown adult:
… and have been wearing tight panties only lately it is very unlikely that it would make any difference to the shape of your tool.
Unless… they are so tight and restrictive that it could damage the penis tissue by restricting the blood floow or preventing erections to happen by bending the penis unnaturally and thus damaging the tissue – and damaged tissue and restricted blood flow can lead to Peyronie’s disease which is a disease that causes curved penis.
Imagine this scenario.
You wearing some random overly-tight pants or underwear, watching TV and minding your own business. All of a sudden that hot actress you have always had a crush on drops off her clothes in a very sexy and passionate scene showing her perfect young body.
It’s only natural that you start fantasising about doing some adult stuff to her and your “little” friends starts waking up. Of course you are not a pervert and you won’t pull your pants down and start masturbating in the middle of living room. What if somebody walks in, right?
It’s all fun and games until your pants restrict your erection and the increasing blood flow creates a lot of pressure on the weirdly-positioned and restricted tissue of your penis.
Chances are nothing bad comes out of it. But you might not always be so lucky. Combine that with some underlying problem like diabetes, low testosterone, weak recuperation abilities or something else that affects the frail tissues in your penis and it can be damaged pretty easily.
It is most probably not going to happen if this happens to you just once. Bit if a described situation is repeated many times (in the span of many years maybe) it may slowly damage the tissue and develop into Peyronie’s disease.
So what is Peyronie’s disease, you ask? Another very common question in this topic. Very similar to »can a penis be broken« (yes, it can btw). The topic of Peyronie’s is far to broad for this article but I have written a lot on this topic in this blog. Just look around a little bit. I would suggest you start by checking ms guide – Complete guide to Peyronie’s disease.
Now let’s take a look at another situation. Did you wear tight panties as a kid?
Growth of tissue can be affected by some external factors. Now this picture is an extreme scenario but it gets a point across..
And yet another mechanism is again by restricting the blood flow through one part of the spongy tissue thus making it under-nourished and potentially smaller in size the the other one in the long run.
Both can result in less than straight penis.
Again, this can be corrected the same way – by making the shorter/small tissue longer. Read my guide on how I did it and science behind it.
4. Can Tight Foreskin Cause a Curved Penis?
A tight foreskin or a bad circumcision can pull the penis in a particular direction when erect, and this will affect the growth of the penis. To deal with this, ensure the foreskin is loose or if circumcised, try to massage or stretch the skin to loosen it as much as possible.
5. Can Masturbation Cause a Curved Penis?
… just not in the way you think it can!
It is another tricky and much discusses topic on the internet. It is a very popular question on the web – does masturbation actually cause a curved penis?
You may have heard or read numerous answers like »if you jerk it off with you left hand to much then it will bend in this direction, try the other hand for a while«.
Well im here to tell you that this is a complete nonsence.
Unless you are masturbating for 15 hours per day there is now way you changed your tissue so much that it would cause a curve.
Lets look at it this way – if masturbation would actually cause a curved penis than EVERY man would have a curved penis!
For example, in a recent study, 95% of men and 71% of women said that they masturbated.
But let’s leave women out of this, OK?
Basically almost every guy masturbates yet only a few have bent penis. So let’s put this to rest for a while.
Masturbation does not cause a curved penis.
BUT! But there is also another way to look at it…
If you masturbate to vigorously and are being to rought you can actually cause the tissue in the penis to become inflamed or damaged. This can lead to formation of scar tissue and this can further develop into a plaque that can block the tiny capilaries in your penis. This condition is called peyronies disease.
Yes, we are talking about it again. You can see a pattern by now, can’t you?
Anything the can damage a penis tissue can lead to Peyronie’s!
Peyronie’s disease differes from simple curved penis in many ways. Most obvious sign is that the curvature if usually far more severe and painful.
Masturbation is not the only cause of this condition, there are a lot – ranging from physical trauma (you got hit in your penis or you bent it excesively during sex or masturbation) to more indirect like sub-optimal health and hormones (specificaly testosterone and DHT).
So basicaly masturbation doens’t cause curved penis but it can potentialy cause a Peyronie’s disease.. which is a curved penis.
Take from this what you want. I wont’t argue with you.
6. Can Peyronie’s Disease Cause a Curved Penis?
Ah..finally! We mentioned this disease quite a few times during this article.
It’s time to finaly explain what is is and how it causes a bent penis.
7. Can Low Testosterone Cause a Curved Penis?
Ah, the testosterone. A hormone that makes us men.
But how is is connected to shape of your penis?
One step at a time. We will get to that. You probably already know that Testosterone is essential for proper physical development. It turns boys into men.
It is the primary androgen, which is means that it maintains masculine development and other manly characteristics. For example, during puberty, testosterone is involved in healthy development of male sex organs.
Along with DHT (another androgen) they help to grow your penis.
Let’s throw in some scientific sentences to make it more fun:
“Androgens are essential for development, growth, and maintenance of penile structure, and regulate erectile physiology by multiple mechanisms.”
“…self-derived fetal DHT is the biggest factor in penile development.”
What we are getting to here is – having optimal male hormones is important part of penis development.
So if you had any kind of problems as a kid – poor diet (no real food, only processed and junk food, or not enough protein and healthy fats, vegetables and fruit), lack of exercise (you rather played on your comptuter, watched TV or read comics than played sports with friends outside) or you had some condition that affected testosterone production (hypogonadism) then there is some possibility that your penis didn’t develop as it should.
Can this be also corrected? Sure. You can raise your testosterone levels and your quality of life will improve dramaticaly.
- Better erections
- Less fat, more muscle mass
- Clearer mind and less lethargy, fatigue or brain fog
- More confidence and asertivenes
- And all the other things that alpha men posess
I write about it here – http://curvedpenisscience.com/#Curved_penis_and_DHT – but sooner or later I will write a whole guide on DHT and testosterone.
Why is My Penis Curved and What Can I do About It?
Let’s wrap this up!
Here’s the answer to the eternal question of why does a penis curve.
So if you have a curved penis its because of the one or more reasons written above. And all of them basically fall in those two categories:
- Developed that way (genetics or poor development due to hormones or tight clothing in young age)
- Something caused the onset of Peyronies disease. You penis is curved a bit more, may be painful at some point. It was straight before that suddenly bent. Felt broken, damaged…
